This role will have the individual conducting both hands-on lab formulation and applications development work to provide customer solutions and drive growth.
Primary responsibilities include executing independent short-term or subsets of larger projects, conducting intermediate level technical analyses such as benchmarking and root cause analysis, as well as limited scope value engineering of current and scale-up of new products. This position will report into the (Director/ Technology Manager) and as part of complex technical programs, will collaborate with Senior Scientists and occasionally be expected to coordinate lab work of technicians.
Responsibilities:
Performs analyses, tests, and development of new or updated formulas that require an intermediate understanding of coatings & adhesives chemistries, product lines, and materials.
Adjusts product formulas, assists with raw material evaluation and selection, pilots new batch tests; assists with the development and scale up of production formulas.
Completes field “fitness for use” technical application tests of products to validate product/formulation changes/recommendations.
Serves as a team member for projects that are complex in nature and are generally subsets of larger initiatives and supports product development, quality control, manufacturing processes, and other operations.
Develop understanding of market drivers and needs through - benchmarking of competitive products & collaborating with sources on key customer insights, new technologies and external trends.
Ability to design, conduct and direct laboratory experiments, interpretation of results and designing of follow-up experiments
Interface and engage with concerns from plants, quality control, customers and other internal and external parties regarding development/improvement of products, processes, quality
May assist with general project management, timeline development, and other project requirements.
May serve as a lead to technicians or support personnel involved in the research project.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry , Material Science (or similar field) required.
