Design Engineering is the design authority and owner of the design bases- Safety Analysis, which resides in the Design Engineering department, is responsible for the engineering activities related to the safety analysis described in the site’s FSAR Chapter 15. Design integrity of the site’s safety analyses is maintained through effective configuration control of design output documents (i.e., specifications, calculations, drawings, test requirements, and procedures).


  • Maintain the site’s safety accident analysis design and licensing basis.\
  • Review plant design modifications for safety analysis impact.
  • Provide technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering, and other site organizations which are related to or impacted by the safety analysis design basis.
  • Support safe, reliable operation by identifying and effectively resolving safety analysis issues via the corrective action and work management processes.
  • Develop safety analysis engineering products in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
  • Support and coordinate with core and fuel design engineers, site design engineers and others as necessary to support the Reload process and/or to resolve safety analysis issues.
  • Serve on outage engineering support teams as assigned. Attend training and maintain qualifications necessary to perform required group functions. Act as design authority for the site.

Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in Engineering or other closely related scientific discipline / physical science generally associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the Engineer / Technical Specialist level.)
Desired: B.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering

Minimum experience required of the position
Engineer II: 2 - 3 years' experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Engineer III: 3 - 4 years' experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level

Engineer Sr.: 5+ years' experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
Desired: 5+ years’ experience in Reactor Engineering, Safety Analysis, or Fuel Engineering

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Experience in site or corporate Licensing organizations. Good to excellent communication skills and experience / proficiency in PC use and applications, depending on Engineering level.

Desired: Proficiency in computer codes CE Codes, RELAP, MCNP, GOTHIC and RADTRAD
