System One; has an immediate direct hire opportunity with our client who are seeking a Purchasing Manager- Supply Chain, within their manufacturing facility in Portland, OR that provide pumping solutions within the Oil & Gas, Power, Water and other industries.

 

Summary:

Direct the procurement function at the Portland facility in accordance with corporate policies and objectives; effectively manage the procurement of materials and services utilizing local and international sourcing and alliance agreements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and work with staff to identify and implement procurement strategies for the purchase of commodities at the lowest total cost to meet required quality and delivery.

  • Select and maintain supplier relationships based on total price, performance, quality and commitment of continuous improvement to ensure mutually beneficial strategies.

  • Effectively participate in developing and utilizing the common sources for procurement of components in coordination with BANAM Procurement group. Recommend and implement changes when needed.

  • Report to management on Purchasing and Supplier performance and other criteria when required.
  • Establish and monitor budgets.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and ESH Management System, which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.  Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
  • Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Purchasing department staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing Management or equivalent
  • 5-8 years professional buying experience in industry; knowledge of products, goods, and services procured to meet the needs of the pump market.
  • ISM or related professional certification desirable.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff and promote a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
