SUMMARY

  • This position is primarily responsible for directing activities of workers concerned with construction of buildings, dams, highways, pipelines, site work, demolition and retrofitting existing buildings, or other construction projects
  • Study specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction
  • Work as part of design-build construction team
  • Coordinate with project design team through completion of the design while projects are under construction   
  • Review plans and specifications for constructability
  • Identify discrepancies in plans and specifications and make recommendations to design team to resolve
  • Responsible for onsite project document control
  • Ensure project plans and specifications are updated and maintained onsite
  • Assemble members of organization (supervisory, clerical, engineering, and other workers) at start of project
  • Order procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpret specifications, and coordinate various phases of construction to prevent delays
  • Confer with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force
  • Confer  with  supervisory  and  engineering  personnel  and  inspectors and suppliers  of  tools  and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to plans and specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports
  • Direct workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations
  • Insure project is in conformance to the plans and specifications of said project
  • Prioritize and insure safe working conditions for all onsite personnel at all times
  • Prepare daily construction reports documenting progress of the project, subcontractors, consultants, inspectors, and other visitors present on site, specify man power on site, weather,  including progress photos
  • Responsible to identify in scope and out of scope work for subcontractor requested additional work authorization
  • Responsible to verify time and materials for out of scope work if a supervisor authorizes subcontractor to perform out of scope work on ‘time and materials’ basis
  • Complete and resolve punch list items, and execute the project closeout
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, internal office and field personnel

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management or similar discipline
  • 10+ years of hands on experience in a similar role
