Associate Technical Specialist / Environmental Data Management – Syracuse, NY 13212

** 20 – 40 hours per week**

System One has a part time opportunity for an Associate Technical Specialist / Data Management in Syracuse, NY to support their environmental remediation project. The Associate Technical Specialist / Data Management will be required to have experience using Microsoft Access and EXCEL. EQuIS software would be preferred in order to manage environmental investigation / remediation data for this project!

Important information

  1. Minimum of 20 hours of week but could be up to 40 hours depending on work load
  2. Immediate start with anticipated workload into Fall of 2019
  3. There is a potential for this position to transition to direct depending on workload and performance
  4. Successfully complete System One on-boarding process

The Responsibilities of the Associate Tech Specialist are:

  • Perform data entry from field forms into environmental database and/or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
  • Perform database queries and generate data tables/reports to be included in regulatory deliverables
  • Create boring logs and well construction diagrams using environmental database software
  • Perform quality assurance of data management procedures and quality control of analytical database to ensure data integrity and usability
  • Coordinate with laboratory and enter Chain of Custody records, Sample Delivery Groups, Electronic Data Deliverables to EIM database
  • Work as part of a multi-discipline team including GIS Specialists, GPS Surveyors, Environmental Scientist, Geologists, Chemists, Project Managers and Health/Safety professionals

Experience and Qualifications are:

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or Environmental Science preferred
  • 1-3 years of related job experience (chemistry or environmental background preferred if no degree)
  • Familiar with data generated for environmental investigation / remediation projects
  • Priority is to have EQuIS but if not then EXCEl and ACCESS are required.
  • Laboratory analytical knowledge / methods preferred
  • Must be able to create queries of analytical data and format data in Excel spreadsheets
  • Data Specialist with computer skills in Microsoft Access and EXCEL
  • Familiarity with environmental rules and regulations preferred
