SUMMARY

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, installations, modifications, and replacements of boiler related equipment, under regular supervision and in a timely manner, to minimize disruptions of site operations
  • Perform (daily) preventative maintenance, installation, and modification of boiler and related equipment, including safety valves, regulators, steam traps, automatic control mechanisms, water columns, pumps, chemical feeders, draft fans, and burners. Document in ERP system or per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Identify deviations, defects, damages, or malfunctions in the boiler and related equipment. Document, report, and replace, per the SOP
  • Complete boiler fittings and auxiliary equipment inspections on a regular basis. Proactively repair or replace parts, as needed
  • Clean and maintain boilers and auxiliary equipment, including the fire and water sides (as needed), per the SOP
  • Continuously monitor boiler pressures, temperatures, fuel consumption, and other required information. Document per the SOP
  • Switch boilers from natural gas to oil, as required by the utility company or in the case of an emergency
  • Test and maintain water treatment, including feed water and condensate return. Perform boiler blowdowns and regenerate water softeners, as needed
  • Coordinate with outside contractors, as necessary, to facilitate repairs and/or inspections
  • Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to, creating and closing work requests using Maintenance management system (i.e. ERP, SAP), filling order forms for purchasing, and monitoring building temperatures
  • Proactively identify and recommend process improvements within the department and site
  • Work in accordance with all relevant requirements, including but not limited to ATEX, GMP, AIB, OSHA, HACCP, FDA, Black Seal, and internal safety and sanitation guidelines

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Vocational diploma in Technical Engineering or related discipline (vocational high school or Associates level) required
  • 5+ years boiler operator experience in a manufacturing or plant environment required
  • 1+ year of forklift operation experience required
  • 1+ year of experience in 1 (one) of the following with certification/licensing, preferred: Pipefitting, welding, pump, PLC, electrical, robotics, or equipment repair
  • Black Seal boiler operator’s license from New Jersey required; NJDEP UST A&B operator license a plus.
  • Basic math, reading, writing, and recordkeeping skills and basic PC skills, including Excel and ERP systems
  • Ability to draw/sketch/redline standard machine and process drawings, write, and provide simple and accurate instructions
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
