Summary of Position

The Production Planner II/III is responsible for creating and maintaining the master production schedules for internal manufacturing facilities, materials requirements planning, supporting scenario planning and gathering data and analyzing to develop metrics and trend supply/demand and inventory management. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders and vendors/suppliers to ensure materials are available to meet GMP manufacturing requirements. The Production Planner will be responsible for using project management skills to ensure completion of deliverables, milestones and timelines in support of our pipeline.

Responsibilities and Job Duties

  • Schedules internal manufacturing activities and coordinates the availability of materials for production use by reviewing production schedules, material requirements and material priorities.
  • Creates and maintains master data in SAP, including material masters, purchasing info records, source lists, bills of material and recipes to support production in GMP manufacturing facilities.
  • Collaborates effectively with Materials Management to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
  • Provides consistent and transparent feedback to stakeholders on issues of material availability
  • Analyzes and consolidates data from the ERP system to track and analyze relevant performance metrics. Makes recommendations for improvements and implements approved ideas.
  • Collaborates with Materials Management, Quality and Procurement and external suppliers to proactively anticipate and identify supply chain risks and develop action and resolution plans.
  • Independently manages day to day activities and issues; obtains management guidance for strategic or complex topics.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication channels to provide accurate information and communicate critical issues, gaps and constraints to functional line management and production teams.

Qualifications

Education

BA/BS in a relevant technical or scientific discipline

Experience

Production Planner II

  • At least 2 years’ experience in biotech/pharma industry including 1 year prior experience in supply chain and/or production planning utilizing SAP or another ERP system
  • Experience in materials planning and production scheduling with a strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced and changing process manufacturing environment

Production Planner III

  • At least 5 years of experience in biotech/pharma industry including 3 years of prior experience in supply chain and/or production planning utilizing SAP or another ERP system
  • Experience in materials planning and production scheduling with a strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced and changing process manufacturing environment
  • Experience in demand forecasting / supply planning and evaluation of scenarios
  • Experience with developing and implementing operational excellence / continuous improvement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Use of an ERP for MRP and production orders
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical GMP procedures and concepts
  • Strong math and data analysis skills and advanced skills with MS Excel
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for transparent communication are required
  • Demonstrated understanding of interdependencies of supply chain, technical and business objectives
  • Experience in managing vendors/suppliers
  • Well organized and capable of concurrently and effectively managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong collaborative skills, ability to develop working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and drive to resolution
  • Planning and monitoring skills with strong attention to detail including direct experience with project management tools and software (MS Project)
