Position for a EHS Specialist (environment, health and safety)

EHS Specialist, under direction of EHS Manager, implement programs, training and data management as required to cover all Environmental, safety, and occupational health activities. Implement services and programs within budget. Interact effectively with management, committees, regulatory agencies, employees, labor unions, public, and customers.
- Assist in development and implementation of EHS policies and programs in accordance with Local, State, and Federal regulations and Corporate policies and guidelines.
- Report to EHS manager, operations, administrative and corporate teams on the performance of the EHS Programs and Initiatives as a means to initiate improvements.
- Support EHS Manager, and as applicable, perform independently, in providing timely reports to Governmental agencies consistent with reporting requirements of the regulations.
- Support development and maintenance of a Hornell Site EHS management system compliant with the ISO 14001 EHS Standards.
- Lead EHS Inspections and audits of actual operations and process versus policies and procedures, and provide reports for follow-up actions of conditions requiring remedial efforts.
- Perform Evaluation of operational EHS process and procedure Compliance.
- Conduct Incident investigations, root cause analysis, and support facility development and implementation of incident corrective actions.
- Interface with production supervisors, managers and craft personnel to drive EHS culture improvements and employee accountability.
- Conduct Employee training on EHS regulatory topics, policies and procedures.
- Maintain constant vigilance, and alert appropriate management and operations personnel regarding issues impacting Site Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance.
- Support EHS Manager in the effort to improve the EHS policy and procedure development and management system.
- Manage facility storm-water program.
- Provide oversight of site's emergency response team.
- Manage facility uniform program.
- Provide oversight of site's Security function.
- Provide oversight for Facility Hazardous waste management program.
- Maintain recordkeeping and data management pertinent to programs and regulations.
- Perform any and all other responsibilities, in addition to those mentioned above, as assigned by supervisor/manager. This list of responsibilities is not all inclusive and may change, be added to or deleted from at any time.
