System One is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire position located in Wilmington, MA.

Senior Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical sub-systems and components for flow batteries with an emphasis on piping, structural supports, enclosures, thermal systems, and electrical systems
  • Design of a wide variety of custom components such as sheet metal, weldments, injection molded and rotation molded parts, machined components
  • Management of large complex assemblies
  • Ability to lead cross functional design projects
  • Knowledge of fluid system design and calculations such as pump sizing, piping design, valve selection, etc
  • Selection of commercial components based on cost, availability and reliability
  • Work with manufacturing and supply base to incorporate design for assembly and manufacturing methodologies
  • Work with the service team to design or update assemblies for ease of service activities
  • Creation of specifications and procedures
  • Engineering documentation management with supply base including initial releases, design reviews, change control and implementation, deviation management
  • Management of Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Continuous Improvement and value engineering efforts to support product cost reduction targets
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of failures and implementation of corrective actions

Senior Mechanical Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline is required
  • 5+ years of experience in a production environment
  • Experience bringing new products from engineering to high volume production
  • Preferred experience in 3D CAD, especially PTC Creo a plus
  • Experience with Production Life Cycle Management (PLM) systems, PTC Windchill a strong plus
  • Experience with piping codes such ASME B31 is a strong plus
  • Participation in the Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) process
  • Creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM)
  • Familiarity with the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) framework is a plus
  • Familiarity with a variety of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, rotational molding, sheet metal, machining, welding, coatings/finishes, etc
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation and controls is a plus
  • Familiarity with fluid systems and components, such as piping, pumps, valves, controls and instrumentation is a plus
  • Ability to read and generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) is a plus
  • Self-starter, detail oriented, creative thinker, who can balance a multitude of tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build a good rapport
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Detail oriented focus to ensure work product and documentation is clear and of high standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
