  • Understand the customer requirements, design intent and timelines
  • Interact with sales, engineering, purchasing, production and customer service to obtain and provide information needed to resolve issues and establish an accurate cost estimate for product
  • Generate accurate estimates of time and costs to build component parts and assemblies
  • Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing, to aid management in bidding on or determining price of products
  • Compute cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products and projects, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes
  • Consult with engineering, manufacturing, and vendors, to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Maintain records of estimates projects, analyzing change orders and determining cost differences



  • BA/BS degree in relevant discipline preferred
  • 2+ years of related experience in a similar role required
  • Familiarity with general manufacturing methods and processes required, hands-on machine shop experience a plus
  • Prior experience with subcontracting/purchasing experience of machined parts and outside processes with some understanding of the practices involved with quoting and ordering custom parts to print would also be helpful
  • Ability to review and understand blue prints is required but the candidate does not need to be an engineer or a machinist, although either would be desirable
  • Must be highly proficient with computers, including CAD and ERP software (SolidWorks, Mastercam, Epicor, etc.).
  • Good excel spreadsheet skills, and general Microsoft Office computer skills
  • Experience with proposals for government jobs that require certified TINA compliant cost and pricing data would be a plus
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements and processes
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent green card holder
