System One has a temp to hire employment conversion opportunity for a Fire Sprinkler Technician to work at UMCS Fort Stewart. The Fire Sprinkler Technician will function as support to Sprinkler, Testing and Maintenance Field Lead and responsible for performing Inspections, Testing and Maintenance of Wet, Dry, Pre-Action and Deluge Sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 25/UFC on a military installation. Experience with fire pumps, backflows and standpipes a plus.

  6. Must pass both System One and Client’s onboarding process prior to start

Position Overview

Assists the Team Lead in execution of specific portions of Fire Sprinkler Inspection / Testing and Maintenance of Wet, Dry, Pre-Action and Deluge Sprinkler systems. Can also work on small to medium size sprinkler system installations or upgrades to existing systems or the overall system installation project. Serves as the primary support to the senior field technician and project manager while working w/ other field personnel in a team role. Willingness to travel to the installation site locations is expected for up to one week duration. Current USACE background check or possession of a Common Access Card (CAC), and NICET I Inspection and Testing of Water Base Systems certification desired.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works within the ITMs suppression team in safe work practices and collection of inspection data. Works with facility occupant staff in coordination of testing and inspections to collect the condition and deficiency data, document the inspection data and keeping data current. Manages work plans and updates inspection schedules to maintain track record of work completed. Interpret statements of work, specifications, and design drawings in order to plan, execute and complete inspection testing and preventative maintenance of fire and life safety systems.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
  • The Sprinkler Technician is responsible for performing inspection, testing and maintenance of sprinkler systems on Military Installations.
  • Systems may include control valves, gauges, inspection test valves, OS&Y valves, piv valves, jockey pumps, pump controllers, electric pumps and diesel pumps.
  • They will be knowledgeable in DoD regulations, NFPA Codes and the Unified Facility Criteria (UFCs) pertaining to Life Safety and be able insure compliance of the system, address engineering inquiries, and support the inspection team in resolution of problems.
  • Reads and interprets statements of work, specifications, and design drawings.
  • Attends project status meetings on site to provide engineering support for the project.
  • Interfaces with site and customer personnel representing the Client’s interests and resolving project issues.
  • Create or supports the creation of project documentation including Inspection reports, asset inventory documentation, photos of assets or As-Built drawings, submittals, and training materials.
  • Maintains current NICET I certification and training in Inspection and Testing of Water Base Systems latest technology.
  • Provide engineering and troubleshooting support for resolution of field problems via phone or on-site.
  • Willingness to travel to client facility locations throughout Military Installations in North Carolina or Georgia depending on assignment location is expected. (One Day Trips)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience with systems servicing and (ITMs) Inspections, Testing and Maintenance of water base systems.
  • 2 years’ experience in servicing and repair of water base systems. Working on Military Installations a PLUS
  • High School Diploma a must, --- PREFERRED - 2-year degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience.
  • Experience on Federal / Military installations preferred. Two years of service work in federal buildings may be substituted for military systems experience.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as some familiarity with industry practices. Also requires good written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction. Ability to work as part of a team is essential.
