The Industrial Engineer is responsible for the such activities as:


- Manufacturing Plan in accordance with the capacity analysis

- Design for Manufacturing, Work breakdown structures, Time Studies,  Process and logistics flows
- Labor cost estimate per install

- Creates manufacturing plans in accordance with the site capacity requirements.

- Tooling list, tooling budget and tooling schedule

- Writes the functional specification for the tooling and get approval from the Process & Manufacturing engineers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, EHS and Industrial Quality representatives.

- Identifies the need for tooling, provide clear description and design of tooling needed for project execution, perform tooling costing, perform the design of the tooling or make it subcontracted.

- “Make” versus “Buy” list
- Follow up implementation of the tooling, Specify inspection operations, handling and maintenance instruction, write periodic inspection sheets.

- Work Instructions (OMS)
- MBOM (manufacturing BOM – bill of materials) / Manufacturing kits and variance report

- Reviews Bill of materials for Completeness
- Works concurrently with the Design Engineering to ensure the manufacturability of the product at the lowest cost
- Interfaces with the Production Manager / Production Line Supervisor during the development phase to validate all steps of the Manufacturing Process

- Provides an efficient support to Production to improve the processes and the productivity
- Interfaces with Supply Chain department to create logistics plans and efficient methods of material kitting and shop floor presentation.

- Interfaces with Multiple departments for Data accuracy

- Reviews conformance to standards, review applicable Engineering Changes/Process Changes to assure proper implementation

- Works with ERP system (SAP) to structure manufacturing bills of material, process sheets and routings to support the most efficient manufacturing practices available.
- Enters DTR3 part numbers into the SAP Repository validating: description, Unit of Measure, weight, UNSPSC Code, etc.

- Investigates CLAMP Number Nomenclature as called out in BOMs, Request subscription to team

- Controls Change Master documentation for integration into MBOM

- Monitors Changes from SAP Repository to GSI PBOM (production bill of materials)
- Maintains accuracy of BOM vs reference EBOM (engineering bill of materials) and notify about any discrepancies

- Continuous improvement to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and improve ergonomics/EHS

- Value stream analysis or process mapping optimization

- Performs concurrent engineering design reviews and analysis to assure manufacturability of product.

Skills, Experience, Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or similar)

- Industrial engineering, Manufacturing engineering, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical engineering, Tooling experience

- Experience with design drafting, CAD tools (like AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, etc) and PLM tools

- Any experience with SAP ERP or other ERP, MRP applications as a user will be a plus

- Any experience with CNC programming will be a plus
