Document Controller

Job Summary

Process (collect, analyze, input, distribute) technical documents in accordance with Company requirements.  Assist with the administration and maintenance of the corporate Engineering electronic document management and physical filing systems.  Assist with archiving and disposal of documents to support conformance with the Document Retention and Disposal Policy.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar role in a business of similar size and complexity -OR-          
  • Minimum of 5 years general administration experience with demonstrated computer and database skills

Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university preferred

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process technical documents received from engineering, shipyard projects, and business units
  • Maintain the Archive Database
  • Run monthly proofing reports from the Archive Database
  • Transmit controlled documents
  • Maintain status of assignments
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements for this position

  • Capable of understanding areas of responsibilities, knowledge of procedures and processes for handling assigned tasks
  • Electronic Document Control Program software experience
  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office Suite Products, Excel and Word and must be able to type at least 50 words per minute
  • Familiar with search criteria within a database context
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis process
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling boxes of documents weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter

  • Able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance
  • Available and willing to travel to such locations and with such frequency as determined necessary to meet business needs
  • PC proficiency required - competency with Microsoft Office Software suite version 2007 or greater
