System One has partnered with an oil and gas company that is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sales and Use Tax Accountant. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sales and use tax regulations and compliance requirements, particularly within the oil and gas sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze a large volume of sales and use tax invoices, primarily from Texas and Oklahoma
- Prepare and file timely and accurate sales and use tax returns for both states
- Conduct regular audits and reconcile discrepancies in sales and use tax filings
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and local tax laws and regulations
- Assist with tax planning and ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve tax-related issues and inquiries
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales and use tax accounting, preferably in the oil and gas industry
- Strong knowledge of state and local tax laws, particularly in Texas and Oklahoma
- Experience with tax software and ERP systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
